Apologies for a belated blog – it’s been a busy few weeks! Welcome to our new Ladybirds who started this term, you’re settling in really well! Our theme of All About Me have helped the children make connections with home and family, and we’ve talked about our differences and similarities

For our People Who Help Us week we were so lucky to have a “real” police officer visit us – as one child put it! The children were able to have a close look at the police uniform and equipment, and explore the police van. It was such a fantastic morning – a huge thank you to Sam and Stu.

In our garden we’ve harvested some vegetables and the children were very keen to take them home to cook for dinner!

At the end of September, we had a very special trip to Colchester Zoo in memory of Wendy Weston. Wendy was Pre-school Leader at Ladybirds for over 20 years and ran Teddybears (now Little Ladybirds) before that. She wanted the children to have “a fun day out” in her words, and they certainly did.

When we set up the hall, we always have activities out for fine motor skill development and colouring is a big favourite with the children – this term they’ve gone a bit Mask Mad!

(Very good colouring Kate!)
All of our activities are planned to encourage social interaction, communication and turn taking in a fun way.

We encourage the children to show and talk about items from home so sending them in with a toy for our Sound of the Week is a great way to do this.

Our ‘sound of the week’ this week is ‘c k’. Our themes for October will include Autumn, Diwali and, after half term, Halloween of course! Please remember we are not at Ladybirds this Friday 18th October (NPD) and we return after half-term on Monday 28th October.
