October was a very busy month for Ladybirds! We welcomed Rupert and Ella and had some special visitors. Firstly Rev. Armstrong who talked about harvest and read a lovely story with the help of Harry the mouse – the children were captivated! Also Lesley Collin, who helped the children make corn dollies and explained that traditionally they were made from the last strands of corn to ensure a good harvest. The children also made little candle holders out of clay to celebrate Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights. On 17th, we had a very successful Quiz, raising over £400 towards new dressing up clothes, an activity table and Nativity playset. Thanks to the Hare and Hounds for hosting it for us, and to the parents and friends for supporting it – the children will be very happy with their new toys. October finished with a children’s Halloween Disco in the village hall with music, games and lots of very cute witches, ghosts and skeletons! It raised £200 so well done to everyone involved.
